Cuisinart
Introduction:
Cuisinart is an American consumer electronics brand owned by Conair Corporation. The
company was founded by Carl Sontheimer in 1971 and introduced electric food processors to
the US market. The food processor was the first model to be unveiled at the Chicago Food
Fair in 1973. The name “Cuisinart” has become synonymous with “food processor”.
It is also a portmanteau of “kitchen” and “art”. Cuisinart was acquired by Conair Corporation in 1989.
History:
Cuisinart was founded in 1971 by Carl Sontheimer, a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology. He was inspired by his love of French cuisine. This gave rise to Cuisinart and
its flagship food processor. Cuisinart introduced the brand at the Chicago trade fair in
January 1973. Cuisinart’s success was initially limited until Gourmet
magazine reviews helped drive sales. In the mid-1970s, Cuisinart increased sales in
collaboration with well-known chefs such as Carl Sontimer’s best friend James Beard. Cuisinart
became the flagship product of universal design when it adopted Mark Harrison to give access
to Cuisinart’s products to everyone, including those with restricted mobility and limited vision. I

in sales. A group of investors bought a stake in the company’s Sontheimer in 1987 for $

Cuisinart. In 1979, Robot-Coupe hired former Cuisinart marketing director Alvin Fineman to
engage in competitive advertising leading to proceedings. Robot-Coupe has been ordered to
stop suggesting that Cuisinart has sold products made by Robot-Coupe.
Cuisinart’s most famous product is the food processor. We also produced many other products.
After Cuisinart hired industrial designer Mark Harrison to create many new products and
improve other designs in the 1970s, many of the company’s products became associated
with universal design. Harrison has designed larger fonts to make the product more functional
for users with disabilities and to allow visually impaired users to see them.
